Azaleas can also be planted as topiary shrubs. With a professional pruning and the right pot, they are a stylish eye-catcher in any garden.
The short-needled Pinus parviflora, also called five-needle pine, is very suitable as a topiary shrub and is often used for typical bonsai pruning. It requires a rather complex pruning, since new as well as partly old shoots have to be cut out.
The uncomplicated Siberian iris (Iris sibirica) adds a pretty touch to any garden with its blue-violet flowers.
